Exhibition at Carl Gorman Museum, University of California, Davis

Outreach: A significant aspect of the Archive is public activities. Apart from AFI exhibits and publications, work by AFI photographers has been included in other exhibits and publications. Outreach activities also include slide presentations and panel discussions. In addition, extensive press coverage has made AFI known to a diverse audience. Click here to see the list of past exhibitions.

AFI has published several books and two series of postcards. For more information, see the Publications page.

AFI has created ten shows. Venues have ranged from university galleries to cafes, cultural centers, and other alternative spaces in Mexico, the United States, and the Netherlands. Our photographers' work has been included in exhibitions in Germany, England, South Africa, and Australia. In March 2002, a selection of photographs from our book Camaristas was included in the exhibition Rostros de ChiaPaz shown in the Zocalo, the main plaza of Mexico City, and three of the photographers inaugurated the exhibition with Nobel prize winner Jose Saramago. Often AFI staff members have travelled to attend show openings - including a trip in 1998 to the Reykjavik Arts Festival in Iceland for the opening of Mayan Photographs: Indigenous Images from Chiapas. Photographers' work has been published in Luna Córnea, the Mexican national photography quarterly. The Archive is exploring new forms of outreach through digital images, CD-ROMS, and this website!

The Our Food exhibit is touring now!

Our current exhibit, Our Food, is available now for USA and international bookings. There is no rental fee, but a donation to AFI is encouraged. Click here to view the prospectus
